Here come the dinosaurs!

A truly unique show is coming to the Resch Center in December. It's called Walking With Dinosaurs - The Live Experience. The show will feature 15 life-sized dinosaurs that walk and roar. This is not an exhibit, but rather a live, theatrical show that is doing gang-buster business around the country. It's the first time anything like this has been tried. Go to www.dinosaurlive.com to check it out. Tickets go sale Saturday, September 15 at 10 am. The event will run December 12-16. Who says dinosaurs are extinct?

We're gearing up for the first annual Get Cooking! Food Show on September 22 at Shopko Hall and the Resch Center. The highlight will be two live performances by celebrity chef Bobby Flay from the Food Network. However, there will be several other cooking demonstrations by Fox Valley Technical College's Culinary Arts progam and many vendors will be showcasing their food items or products and offering samples. I had a chance to work a booth at Artstreet for the food show and got to talk to a lot of people about the show. By the way, the best t-shirt I saw at Artstreet said "Families are like fudge, mostly sweet, but with a few nuts!" How true.

The Gamblers are gearing up for another season. The players will be arriving soon and an exhibition game is scheduled for Thursday night, September 20. All tickets are $7 general admission. The home opening weekend is for the regular season is Friday and Saturday, October 5 & 6.

Resch is Urban dwelling

At this writing, Keith Urban has one of his two Resch Center shows in the bank. Urban's first show on Tuesday night was, as expected, a big hit overall and a big hit with the ladies. It doesn't matter if you're not a country fan, this concert was crazy like a rock concert. Urban had a smaller stage that stretched out into the middle of the arena where it felt like most of the near 6,000 people had a front row seat. It was truly party atmosphere that started early in the night as Y100 hosted a party out on the patio in front of the Resch Center. Urban has a way of working the crowd in a unique personal way...and darn if a few under-garments didn't make their way up to him on the small stage. I can imagine what Urban's concert #2 at the Resch will be.

Coming up this weekend, some true rockers will call the Leach Amphitheater in Oshkosh home. Stone Sour hits the stage Saturday, August 4 with special guest Dirty Little Rabbits. Make no mistake about it, Stone Sour is a multi-faceted hard rock band. Some of the members also play in SlipKnot. Tickets are only $25.

On tap next week, things get a little more mellow at the Resch, but no less powerful. Josh Groban returns after a monster concert here a couple of years ago. Groban is back Wednesday, August 8. Some good tickets still remain. Until next time....see you in the seats.
