Resch to serve up USA Volleyball

Enough already with the winter weather in April! At this writing, the melt has begun from a 3 or 4 inch snowfall in mid April and the grounds crew here at the complex isn't crazy about it! But it looks like spring will be here to stay soon. One of the things we've been working on diligently recently is the major volleyball event scheduled for the Resch Center on June 1 & 2. Team USA will play Japan as part of World League action at the Resch and Green Bay is one of only three cities in the U.S. to have the games. Team USA will be looking to make the 2008 Olympics in Bejing. It'll be a great chance to see the best volleyball in the world and I am able to give you a discount!

You have a few options...you can order online or by phone and use the code VBALL07 when ordering. That will give you a $3 discount for one match either on June 1 or June 2. Or you can use the code to save $5 to buy tickets for both matches on June 1 &2. Here's a little secret, if you'd like to buy them at the Resch Center box office and pay no convenience fees, email me (terry.charles@pmiwi.com) and I'll send you a flyer that you can take to the box office and still get the discount. Even if you're not a huge volleyball fan, like me, it will still be a great opportunithy to see world-class Olympic hopefuls.

The Gamblers will host a couple of playoff games at the Resch. We know for sure they'll play here on Saturday, April 21 and Monday, April 23. Both will offer beer specials. Speaking of the Gamblers, did you hear that Coach Mark Mazzoleni took a puck in the kisser last week? Holy smokes! It decked him during a game on April 6 and he needed a handful of stitches in his mouth and will probably lose a few teeth because of the injuries. One tooth is already gone! And so am I! Until next time, see you in the seats!

A lot of bull

I have to tip my hat (if I wore one) to WFRV CBS 5 morning reporter Wendy Neuberger. Bulls & Broncs were recently at the Resch Center and she was here for an early morning TV live shot. I told her we might have a bull here by the time the live shots would go on and I told her she could get on the bull if she wanted to. Sure enough, we got the bull and she got on it. Now, the bull was inside the gate so it couldn't really move around. But still, it takes a lot of you know what to do it and she did! The rodeo was super successful and Friday night was "Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night." The night was a benefit for Deanna Favre's Hope Foundation.

We've had huge turnouts for the Rodeo, World of Wheels and Freestyle Motocross the past few weeks. I've had the opportunity to do live TV with all of those folks in the early morning, so you get to know the players. They are all great and friendly people. I question the sanity of those that ride on bulls or do backward flips on a motorcyle in mid-air, but different things make people tick.

Let Me Be Frank Productions had a successful run with its first show in the Meyer Theatre. The next one is "Me & Bobby McGee" April 27 - May 12. It's a 70s show set in Madison in the year 1977. And you know what? The song Me & Bobby McGee isn't even in the show. It's actually a rock hangout in the show. Frank is such a freak.

I would be remiss if I didn't touch on the Blue Man Group that was at the Resch on March 27. What an awesome show! The sold out crowd was entertained. We've had it pretty good this winter and spring with some unique events when you talk about Cirque du Soleil and now USA Volleyball coming up in June 1 & 2. Next time I'll talk more about that event and give you a unique opportunity to get discounted tickets. Meanwhile, the Gamblers season is winding down and soon we'll be talking about the playoffs. Until next time, see you in the seats.
