Ice, Ice Baby!

Ice, ice baby is a good line to sum up this weekend at the complex as two great events will be taking place on the ice. The Gamblers will be home at the Resch Center hosting Sioux Falls for games on Friday and Saturday night. But, at the Brown County Arena, you can see motorcycles racing on ice on Saturday night! It's a very unique event as motorcycles race on the hockey rink. This is the second year the World Championship Ice Racing Series has made a stop in Green Bay. This year, they're starting the series here! Some of the machines are able to reach 60 mph in under 3 seconds. Needless to say, you need to be brave (maybe a little crazy)to throw your leg over one of those motorcycles, on the ice and in the tight confines of a hockey rink.

If ice entertainment isn't your thing, perhaps a rare Christmas show by Herman's Hermits is! "A Peter Noone Christmas" will be at the Meyer Theatre on Friday night at 8 p.m. It's believed to be the first time in at least 20 years that the Hermits will do a Christmas show. Peter Noone is a heck of a showman and it promises to be an entertaining and unique show. Barb's Centre for Dance also hold its annual holiday dance show at the Meyer at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

We've got a lot of neat things coming up in the coming months, maybe even some that will have you feeling blue! See you in the seats.

Elmo & TSO Draw Big Crowds

Another hugely successful weekend at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Complex. Sesame Street's "Elmo Makes Music" drew a lot of people and could have broke a record for a Sesame Street show in Green Bay. Meanwhile, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra also did two concerts at the Resch Center on November 18 (one at 3 pm and one at 8 pm) and both were near sell outs. TSO continues to amaze those who attend their concerts and continues to amaze those of us in the business because it has become an extremely successful concert group considering it tours only two month every Christmas season!

There are more Christmas shows coming up at our venues including The Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Cookies Tour on December 7 in the Time Warner Cable Theatre at the Resch Center, a Peter Noone Christmas (Herman's Hermits) December 1 at the Meyer Theatre and The Second City Dysfunctional Holiday Revue December 14-16 at the Meyer Theatre. More about those shows in the coming weeks.

As you go to these concerts and aren't sure whether cameras are allowed, please call ahead to Oneida Casino Ticket Star at 800.895.0071. We don't always know for sure until close to concert time, but if cameras are not allowed, we usually try to get signage as you enter the parking areas.

In the meantime, be watching for some cool new concerts and events to be anounced in the coming weeks and months. Some of which have never seen Green Bay! In the mean time, see you in the seats.

We get our life back

Well, I don't know about you, but I feel a major load off of my shoulders now that I know I won't have 5 messages on my home answering machine from Tommy Thompson or Bill Clinton or whomever. Whew! It's nice to know too that most TV commercials will actually be selling products or services and not mudslinging politicians. For those of us who use TV advertising, it's also nice to know there will be inventory to buy and not already bought up by the politicians.

A few things come to mind about the WIAA state volleyball tournament that was just held at the Resch Center. One is the WIAA has a top notch staff of workers and volunteers that make the event run extremely smooth. Two, it's great to see the school spirit exhibited by the participating schools and towns - including the crazy costumes and painted faces. Lastly, it's always to tough to see the players crying in the hallways or lobby after losing a tough match. The Resch Center continues to get rave reviews from the participants and fans that come here for the tournament from around the state each year.

It was great to see hockey back in the Brown County Arena again as the Gamblers had their throwback weekend there. The Gamblers wore Bobcats uniforms and there were throwback prices on some concessions. Gamblers are home this Friday, back at the Resch Center, taking on Indiana. Christian based singer/songwriter Matt Perkins will be performing during the game as part of All Faith Night. Power of One is at the complex this weekend as well.

The ever popular Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be here next week and there's still tickets available. Sesame Street Live and the Holiday Gift and Craft Show also take place. So, it will be a busy weekend and I can't imagine I won't be seeing some of you in the seats!
